DIRECT PRIMARY CARE
Experience the Direct Primary Care Advantage at Bloom Integrative Health
Healthcare the way it should be —personal, accessible, and designed for peace of mind.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to talk to your doctor when you need to, and have access to same day or next day appointments without having to wait forever on the phone or months and months for an appointment? The current healthcare model is broken. It’s not working for patients and it’s not working for doctors. There’s a better way and it’s through Direct Primary Care.
With DPC, you get direct access to Dr. Mitchell, same-day or next-day appointments, and unhurried visits that prioritize your total well-being—both physical and mental. Because she cares for a smaller number of patients, Dr. Mitchell has the time to provide truly personalized care, develop tailored wellness plans, and even dispense many medications right from the clinic—saving you time and money.
How does this work? Simple: by removing insurance from the equation. The problem with insurance is that it doesn’t support comprehensive, compassionate care. When doctors bill insurance, the sicker you are the more they get paid. There is little financial incentive to get and keep their patients healthy. That’s why in a DPC model, you pay a flat monthly membership fee—typically similar to your phone bill—and get high-quality, accessible care without the middleman that focuses on getting and keeping you well.
This is healthcare on your terms—proactive, transparent, and built around you. It’s like having a doctor in the family.

CAN DPC SAVE YOU MONEY?
- If You Take Multiple Medications
If you're paying for prescriptions through insurance, your co-pays can add up fast. We dispense many medications directly, at significantly discounted prices—meaning no extra trip to the pharmacy, and major savings. - If You Get Injured
Urgent care or emergency rooms can leave you with enormous bills, even after insurance. You will have a direct line to your doctor and get the care you need without worrying about surprise costs. That same visit could cost thousands in an emergency room, but as a DPC patient, you’ll avoid those expenses. - If You’re Overpaying for Insurance
If you’re enrolled in an expensive insurance plan, you could be wasting money. With DPC, most of your primary care needs are covered, and you'll likely hit your insurance deductible only in the event of major health issues. You can lower your monthly premiums by switching to a high-deductible plan and use your DPC membership for most routine care. - If You Care About Your Health
Before DPC, personal doctors who truly prioritized your health were reserved for the wealthy. Now, you get the level of care previously available only to the ultra-rich—personalized, proactive healthcare focused on keeping you well, not just treating sickness. It’s like having a doctor in your corner 24/7.
DO I STILL NEED INSURANCE?
While our primary focus is on preventative care, it’s equally important to be prepared for unexpected medical events. Situations like hospitalizations, emergency surgeries, or a cancer diagnosis can have significant financial impacts. That’s why we recommend pairing our care with one of the health insurance or health share options listed below to ensure you have a well-rounded, comprehensive healthcare solution.
- Employer Based Health Insurance Plan
If you have the option to choose a higher-deductible, lower-premium insurance plan, we recommend it. At Bloom Integrative Health, we strive to provide as much of your care as possible and do not bill insurance for our services.
We advise avoiding HMO plans, as they typically require referrals and orders to go through an insurance-approved primary care provider (PCP), which can limit your access to our care.
If your employer offers a Health Savings Account (HSA), you can use those funds to pay for a Direct Primary Care (DPC) membership. For those working at small- or medium-sized companies, consider encouraging your employer to include DPC as part of your healthcare benefits. - Healthcare Marketplace Insurance Plan
You can visit healthcare.gov to check if you qualify for a government subsidy to help reduce the cost of your health insurance. Open Enrollment usually takes place from November to December, but you may also be eligible to enroll outside of that period if you experience a Qualifying Life Event—such as a job change, marriage, or pregnancy.
When selecting a plan, we recommend looking for a high-deductible option with a low, affordable monthly premium to pair effectively with our Direct Primary Care model. - Short Term Limited Duration Policy
These plans are typically high-deductible insurance policies and are often a good fit for individuals in transitional life stages. They are commonly used by those who have recently changed jobs, do not qualify for subsidies through the Healthcare Marketplace, young adults who have aged out of their parents' insurance, and individuals who have retired but are not yet eligible for Medicare.
Oregon Short Term Limited Duration Policies - Healthshares
A health sharing program is a non-insurance alternative, functioning more like a healthcare cooperative. These programs have been around for over 20 years and originally began as faith-based initiatives. Today, there are a wide range of options available, including both Christian and secular health shares.
Because health shares are not regulated in the same way as traditional insurance, it's important to read the fine print carefully. Typically, they begin sharing medical expenses after you’ve met your out-of-pocket maximum (similar to a deductible). Many also offer discounts to members who are enrolled in a Direct Primary Care (DPC) program.
